Local Name : Ballabio

Located in a large basin enclosed between Southern Grigna and Mount Two Hands, Ballabio is the gateway to Valsassina, although it is not geographically part of it; in fact, it belonged to the Pieve di Lecco. The road that connects it to Lecco was built at the beginning of the twentieth century on a route previously drawn in the times of Maria Teresa of Austria. With its maturing places, it was the cradle of famous food brands in the field of cheeses.
